POST MODERNS

Carolyn Thompson’s new work is based on the 50 texts found in the Penguin Modern Box Set (2018), which celebrates the pioneering spirit of Penguin’s publishing. The collection includes seminal works by Samuel Beckett, Truman Capote, Allen Ginsberg, Dorothy Parker, George Simenon, and Susan Sontag amongst others.

Consisting of 50 separate artworks, each one responding to one book from the collection, Thompson’s project includes texts pieces, drawings, embroideries, prints and altered books.

A solo exhibition of the full set of works, Post Moderns, will be held at Laurence Sterne Trust, Shandy Hall, York, from 8 September until 11 October 2019, and Eagle Gallery, London in February 2020.
